Cook Denmark aids in a course for Ukrainian refugees

Cook Denmark’s Ukrainian visitors.
On a not-so-regular Tuesday, Cook Denmark had a visit from a group of Ukrainians who are currently enrolled in an educational course about Danish society and the Danish labor market held by the Danish Refugee Council.

As giving back and treating everyone with respect are deeply rooted values at Cook Denmark, we wanted to reach out to our local municipality in Køge as soon as we learned that refugees would be coming to live there. We wanted to offer our help in any way we could. This initial outreach led us to connect with the Danish Refugee Council, who are leading these courses about the Danish society and the Danish labor market. From there, a date was set, and the group would visit at Cook Denmark to learn more about the company and community.

Thomas Gabriel, Managing director at Cook Denmark, introduced the Ukrainians to Cook, our history, and our products. They were also introduced to the daily work in Production. Our guests were very inquisitive and wanted to know where the raw materials come from, how we ensure that the products are so uniform, how they work, and which parts are made by hand and which by machine.

As stents and filters were passed around, the sound level increased. Everyone was very impressed, and several were almost in disbelief at the size of the stent, the very small details of the filters, and the beautiful craftsmanship.

The group wrapped up their day with a tour of Cook Denmark’s facilities and grounds.

Our Ukrainian guests expressed great gratitude for their experience.

“It was a real pleasure visiting Cook. The visit was a great success and produced many good results,” said Vasily Ryabov, a coordinator at the Danish Refugee Council. “Our citizens were very inspired and many of them said that they will do their best to learn Danish well and quickly. Now they are much more motivated than they were before, thanks to you.”

As a part of this project, Cook employees have donated various item like jackets, children’s clothing, bikes, and kitchen appliances, among other things that the Ukrainians needed.

All in all, a very great day with lots of positive vibes. You can check out photos from the event in the gallery below.
