45 years of serving Canada and Cook
On July 25, 2018, Cook Canada celebrated 45 years of contributions to healthcare and patient treatment in Canada. We issued our first invoice on July 25, 1973.
I’ve not been here since the beginning of time, but in the 36 years that I have been, Cook Canada has never “stood still.” We were certainly transforming from our early days in the ‘70s and ‘80s on Esna Park in Markham to Sandiford Drive in Stouffville where we moved in the late ‘80s, our company expanded exponentially to include the manufacturing of lead aprons and various pieces of equipment (Mammo Markers, covers, etc.)
Now in our current location on Mostar Street in Stouffville, we are 22 employees strong and we work for Cook on the global stage.
Cook Canada is made up of numerous departments which include our Executive group, Finance, Human Resources, Ethics & Compliance, IT, Regulatory, Contracts, and our Warehouse. Each department in one way or another has a role in Cook’s worldwide operations. Our Warehouse ships first-to-market products, which means the products have received Health Canada approval for sale in Canada but do not have approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). (All other products are shipped to Canadian customers through the North American Distribution Center in Bloomington.) Finance in Canada is the finance support for the MedSurg group. Regulatory works globally on a regular basis to promote Cook.
We have also been very busy in the arena of government affairs, where we worked on early efforts at regulatory global harmonization. We are also active members of MEDEC, the Canadian voluntary trade association for the medical device industry.
In addition to the corporate employees, Cook Canada has 31 field employees in both the MedSurg and Vascular divisions and one corporate accounts executive, for a total of 63 field-based employees from coast to coast to coast.
These are just a few of Canada’s contributions to the world of Cook.
Bill Cook and Don Wilson started this for all of us to enjoy the benefits in Canada to work and contribute to one of the most unique organizations in the world.
Today, the Cook Canada organization is in concert with Cook globally during one of the company’s most ambitious transformations.
We look forward to the brightest future that lays ahead.

Kudos to Bill and Cook Canada! The birthplace for endoscopy and many great memories of world renowned meetings. 45 years seems such a short time 🙂 although I was just graduating HS when Canada took their first order. I came to W-C as quickly as I had the opportunity. It has been a great ride and your contributions, Bill are appreciated.
