Cook Japan holds Open Office Day

At some point, we have all been asked by our family members or partners about Cook and the work we do here. It can be a challenge to accurately describe our jobs to people unfamiliar with the medical device industry.

To give those folks a better understanding of what, and where, their loved ones spend their working days, Cook Japan held an Open Office Day in August at their main office. The event was mainly organized by nine project members, but many other Cook Japan staff helped create an interesting program for the day.

The 32 visitors were welcomed by a colorful balloon-arched entrance. Attendees were given a tour of the office so they could see where the different functions work. Children were able to participate in job simulation activities, which included an exchange of business cards and a telephone meeting in English. Next, visitors moved to the Japan Distribution Center, where they watched the operation of forklifts and other work necessary for shipping product.

One of the highlights of Open Office Day was the Cook Product Corner, which was prepared through a collaboration of employees from the Vascular and MedSurg divisions. The display was full of amazing content and attracted much attention, particularly from the small children who made up the majority of the attendees. During this part of the event, visitors not only learned about how the devices are used to help patients, they also had the opportunity to handle a variety of Cook products, which the children found very exciting.

We received many nice comments from the participants, including “It was the most fun experience in my summer holiday” and “I hope I can work for Cook in future.”

It was surely a day when Cook workers and their families felt like one big, happy Cook family.
