Employees find many ways to help others during the holidays

Obsolete pipette holders from Cook Vandergrift found a new home as test tube holders in the STEM labs of the Armstrong School District.

The good times started on Friday, December 9, with Amanda Righi dropping off hundreds of pipette holders to Armstrong School District to use as test tube holders in their school Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) labs. The holders were no longer being used and had been in storage for a very long time at Cook Vandergrift. Joe Claypool, Production supervisor, did a 6S event in the area in which the holders were being kept and identified them as “waste.” 6S is part of the Lean Manufacturing process that seeks to create, promote, and sustain a high level of productivity and safety throughout a workspace.

On Saturday, December 10, Cook Vandergrift partnered with the Salvation Army and provided bell ringers at the local Giant Eagle grocey store. As you can see from the pictures, our teams had fun! Thanks to Michele May, Trisha Klingensmith, Justin Cotter (and Carie Ann), Tina Vagnozzi, Aimie Mazza, Lisa Bosworth, Sally Lingenfelter, Shana Dunmire, Sue Kemp, Anita Wilmot, Joe Felschow, John Whitlinger, Melissa Carricato, and Alex Gamble for volunteering your time!

And last but not least, thanks to all the employees who purchased gifts for the Vandergrift American Legion’s Adopt an Angel Program! Gifts were picked up on Monday, December 12. Thanks to Stephanie Figueroa and Christine Arb for helping to load up all the goodies! Thank you all for making the little ones’ Christmas brighter! 😊
