Among the clouds, high above the Atlantic Ocean, Jennifer Canada and Larry Pool were settling in for the evening portion of their flight from the United States to Ireland. With a busy day ahead of them at Cook Ireland, they decided to try to get some sleep before their arrival. Just as the passengers started to doze off, an announcement chimed overhead.

At the back of the plane, another passenger was experiencing a medical emergency, and the attendants were paging for any medically trained passengers that might be able to help. In a sleepy haze, Jennifer heard the page and quickly jumped into action.

“Suddenly, it was like being a nurse back in the hospital,” Jennifer said. “There was an emergency, and I was ready to help.”

“On the plane, I was still trying to figure out what was going on,” Larry said, “But with Jen, her instincts kicked in, and she had already jumped up to help before I even started to process the situation.”

    1. Thankfully, yes. Not a lot of room for CPR in the aisle of an aircraft. 🙂
