The 4th

In the United States we are about to begin a 3 day weekend celebrating the 4th of July (a holiday which celebrates the United States’ declaration of independence from Great Britain.  Take that Britain!).  If you live outside of the U.S. and aren’t familiar with the holiday it usually involves a lot fireworks, beer and meat – not always in that order.   It’s also nice to have a long weekend to spend time with family and friends.

In case you need something more to celebrate here’s a quick update for the device companies on that large bundle of product that was manufactured during the Big Push.   It is working it’s way through our system and right now a lot of it is in packing.  Next stops will be sterilization, post sterilization services and then on to shipping.  Some interesting numbers:

• We have an extra 25,000 Critical Care sets in packaging.  There are only 15,000 units on the backorder list.
• The wire guides department put through an extra 85,000 units into packaging.  We have 110,000 on backorder but once through our system those wires will clear a big percentage of the hold list.
• We have 7,000 Flexors on backorder and more than 20,000 in packaging.
• There are 17,000 extra coils in packaging and our hold list is only 12,000.

In the next month these products will be ready to ship and we should see a lot of product heading to customers.  It won’t cure all of our backorder issues but it certainly will help.
